Ontech selected by the European Commission to receive funding from the SME Instrument Horizon 2020

• Ontech is among the 12 Spanish companies chosen to receive funding from the SME Instrument Horizon 2020 with the aim of developing the Wardiam Perimeter security project.
• Ontech is the only company selected from the security sector.

On July 14, 2017, Ontech received the notification from the European Commission that it was one of the 12 Spanish companies selected to receive funding from the SME Instrument Horizon 2020 European R&D program. This award will serve to develop the Wardiam Perimeter industrial security project, oriented to the protection of large perimeters and critical infrastructures. Ontech stands out as the only company selected from the security sector.

Wardiam Perimeter is an innovative security system developed specifically to protect large industrial perimeters and critical infrastructure. It is comprised of a network of sensors based on Ontech´s patented Controlled Magnetic Field (CMF) technology that discriminates between people, animals, and objects and can be installed inside the wall or perimeter resulting in complete concealment from intruders.

The European financial contribution to the 12 projects in Spain is about 13.1 million euros, which will be used to invest in innovation activities such as demonstration, testing, pilot exercises, expansion and miniaturization, as well as developing a business plan for its product. Ontech, which submitted its proposal with all phases of the project development and market analysis, has an R&D team focused on developing this exclusive product that will revolutionize the security sector of large companies and critical infrastructures.

Endowed with around € 3 billion for funding over the period 2014-2020, the European instrument helps SMEs with high innovative potential to develop innovative ideas for products, services or processes that are ready to face competition in the global marketplace.
